As I’ve said before, SE.com is a creative outlet for just about anything that doesn’t fit neatly within the scope of “work.” Drawing, for example, is something I love doing, but it really doesn’t have any place (by itself) in my work. When I launched Mud Productions a few years ago I needed to show the Services I offer, yet I wanted to show my Portfolio as well. The end result was an ambiguous, nondescript definition of what I do. Sadly, not much has changed.
Now that SE.com has taken over the portfolio side of things, I can concentrate the focus of Mud Productions on the services. What this means initially is that things are going to get a lot more simple over there. In the next few weeks, I will be scaling back Mud Productions to photography and videography exclusively. Of course I will still be doing Graphic Design and Animation stuff if someone requests it, but for the time being I won’t be advertising it.
In addition to scaling back, it will simultaneously be expanding out. Videography will get a few new bells and whistles, and Photography will soon be more readily available for babies, headshots, and bands. Before launching any new services I first establish a workflow and a brochure. This gives me a solid platform on which to work, as well as helping me focus my efforts to a target audience. The brochure (like this one, for example) addresses five specific areas that are important to my clients. It tells them:
- The prices.
- What’s in it for them.
- Why M.P. is different.
- What people are saying about it.
- What to expect, or examples of my work.
So that’s what is coming down the pipe. I’m really excited about the changes I’m making, and I think you’ll like ’em too!
I would love to hear your suggestions or ideas! If there is something you would like to see in the new Photography or Videography services, now is the time to let me know. Thanks for listening!
