New domicile, who dis?
Getting a motorcycle license has been a goal of mine since I first rode one in India two years ago. Turns out it’s much harder to do if you can’t prove residency anywhere.
Long story short: I “moved” to South Dakota because they are very accommodating of full-time travelers, and now I’ve got a shiny new license with a two-wheel endorsement.

Updates…
In addition to having no state income tax, South Dakota requires merely one overnight stay in the state every five years in order to be eligible for residency. There’s quite a bit of paperwork involved, but ultimately it’s a very nomad-friendly place to establish domicile.
For some strange reason, I’ve always wanted to see Mount Rushmore. I think it’s because it’s an American icon, like the Statue of Liberty and the Golden Gate Bridge, etc... I fully anticipated being underwhelmed by it, but at least I can finally check it off my list now.
I started reading The Needs of the Dying, after my sister recommended it. Of course it’s a depressing topic, but it’s so important to think about and discuss the single most inevitable part of life. My suggestion: read it now; don’t wait until someone you love is dying.
April was a dizzying month:
I had 7 photo shoots in 4 different states
I visited 3 other states for personal travel.
Technically I “moved” to a new state.
My dad was transferred from an assisted-living facility to a hospital and now a nursing home.
Nevertheless I’ve now got a “commercial drone license,” a motorcycle endorsement, an International Driver’s Permit, my taxes are done, and I’ve edited 11,823 photos for clients.
I’m ready for some adventure…
more reasons to be
thankful…
I finally got to see Mount Rushmore
Wal-Mart was open on Sunday, and sold motorcycle helmets
for a Royal Enfield bike to ride in the class
for a perfect score on the written test
for the patient, helpful class instructors Doug and Jason
to finally have proof of residency after 3+ years without
I can now rent and ride a motorbike wherever I go
